Ali Bagheri has been appointed as Iran's acting Foreign Minister after death of Hossein Amir-Abdollahian in the recent chopper crash. Bagheri had served as deputy foreign minister under Amir-Abdollahian and was also Iran's chief nuclear negotiator. Bagheri's brother is the son-in-law of Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei. The chopper crash also killed Iranian President Ebrahim Raisi.
