A senior US State Department official said it's impossible for Israel to achieve "total victory" in its war against Hamas. "Ultimately....there has to be more of a political solution," the official, Kurt Campbell, said. Earlier, Israeli PM Benjamin Netanyahu had pledged to continue military operations in Gaza until Hamas is defeated, which he had said would be an "absolute victory".
