A new study in The BMJ said higher consumption of ultra-processed ready-to-eat foods is linked to higher death risk. Ultra-processed foods are industrial formulations made mostly/entirely from substances derived from foods and have additives like preservatives, sweeteners, artificial colours/flavours, etc. Reconstituted meats like ham and sausages, ice-creams, crisps, etc are some examples.
