The 66-year-old N Ramchander Rao was elected the new Telangana BJP president, a post previously held by Union Minister and Secunderabad MP G Kishan Reddy. Raja Singh, BJP MLA from the Goshamahal constituency, had earlier resigned over reports of Rao becoming the president. Singh alleged he was not allowed to contest for the party's state president position.
