The West Bengal government has made it mandatory for all government and government-aided schools across the state to recite Rabindranath Tagore's 'Banglar Mati, Banglar Jol' during morning assemblies. 'Banglar Mati, Banglar Jol', which translates to 'Soil of Bengal, Water of Bengal', is also the official state anthem. The song will be sung along with the National Anthem 'Jana Gana Mana'.
