A Johns Hopkins University team led by Indian-origin professor Annie Kathuria has grown a novel whole-brain organoid containing neural tissues and rudimentary blood vessels. The human cell-based model could help study conditions like schizophrenia and autism. "It lets us watch disorders develop in real time, test treatments and tailor therapies for individual patients," Kathuria said.
