Former BJP MP Pragya Singh Thakur, who along with six others was acquitted in the 2008 Malegaon blast case, broke down in the court during the verdict and said the case "ruined" her "whole life". Pragya stated, "I have endured years of humiliation...I had to struggle repeatedly...despite being innocent, I was branded with the stigma of guilt."
