A Kerala Assembly report has revealed that 1,157 schools across the state have buildings declared 'unfit' for classes, including 875 government schools. Kollam, Alappuzha, and Thiruvananthapuram top the list. Education Minister V. Sivankutty said new buildings are being built through KIIFB projects and plan funds, while urgent repairs are funded separately to ensure student safety.
