Indian Railways attracted 1.87 crore applications for recruitment in 64,197 posts across seven categories in 2024, according to data shared in Parliament. According to the ministry, the vacancy pool has widened over the last four to five years as large batches of employees have reached their retirement age. Additionally, the railway network is expanding and modernising, creating new job roles.
