Mumbai's Bhiwandi reported 10,140 dog bites from January to November, highlighting a significant public health concern. The municipal sterilisation programme, targeting 13,500 stray dogs, has only completed 5,336 procedures, leaving over 8,000 unsterilised. This slow progress, attributed to contractor staff shortages, has led to rising public fear, as per municipal sources and residents.
