As many as 10 earthquakes hit different parts of Russia on August 5, data from the USGS shows. The strongest among those had a magnitude of 5.1 and happened 144 km southeast of the Petropavlovsk-Kamchatsky area. An earthquake of magnitude 5 also hit an area near Ozernovskiy. This comes days after an earthquake of 8.8 magnitude hit Russia.
