Over 110 people, including students and locals, were detained in Assam's Sribhumi during a protest against the district's renaming, police said, adding that people, including minors, began pelting stones at police personnel. The government had renamed Karimganj to Sribhumi last November. The protest reportedly erupted after CM Himanta Biswa Sarma's recent visit and remarks against the opposition.
