A global study has stated that more than 15 million people born between 2008 and 2017 could develop gastric cancer (stomach cancer) during their lifetime due to a bacterium called Helicobacter pylori (H. pylori). The study estimated that India is expected to report the second-highest number of cases, after China. Reportedly, stomach cancer is the fifth most common cancer worldwide.
