At least 18 people were arrested and over 500 others were booked after communal violence broke out in Pune's Yavat village over an alleged objectionable WhatsApp status on Friday. This comes after a mob set ablaze a motorcycle and damaged a bakery over the objectionable content. The police had used tear gas shells and lathi-charge to disperse the mob.
