Scientists have identified a new ichthyosaur species, Xiphodracon goldencapensis, the 'Sword Dragon of Dorset', from a rare, 184-million-year-old fossil found on the Jurassic Coast in the UK. The dolphin-sized marine reptile’s near-complete 3D-preserved skeleton, unearthed in 2001 and studied recently, is the only known example of its kind.
