Engineers from the University of Massachusetts Amherst have created the first artificial neurons that can directly communicate with living cells. "Previous versions of artificial neurons used 10 times more voltage—and 100 times more power...Ours register only 0.1 volts...about the same as the neurons in our bodies," study's senior author said. The study was published in Nature Communications.
