The Union government has removed 2.25 crore ineligible beneficiaries from the National Food Security Act (NFSA) database in a nationwide clean-up drive. Using data analysis and state verification, names of individuals with cars, higher incomes, company directorships, or deceased persons were deleted to improve targeting. States are now adding verified eligible households.
