Between 2022 and 2025, FSSAI tested 86,401 food samples across India for pesticide residues, with 2.8% found exceeding safe limits, the government told Parliament. The testing was part of routine surveillance under food safety laws. A separate project also monitors pesticide residues in key food items like fruits, veggies, milk, and grains.
