A small plane crashed into high-voltage power lines in suburban Maryland on Sunday evening, trapping two people inside the aircraft. The incident cut power to nearly 100,000 homes or businesses as rescuers continued operations to safely remove the two people aboard. The pilot was identified as Patrick Merkle, 65, of Washington and his passenger as Jan Williams, 66, of Louisiana.
