Twenty Naxalites, including nine women and 11 with a collective bounty of ₹33 lakh, surrendered in Chhattisgarh’s Sukma on Wednesday, police said. They gave themselves up to senior police and CRPF officers, citing disillusionment with the "hollow" Maoist ideology and atrocities against tribals. Police added they were influenced by the 'Niyad Nellanar' scheme and the new rehabilitation policy.
