The electronic toll collection in Japan failed for approximately 38 hours on April 8-9, reported Japan Times. In Japan, cars have to briefly slow down at the toll gate, and once the signal is read, gates automatically rise. However, as the system malfunctioned, vehicles were allowed to pass freely. The report revealed 24,000 people still paid the money later.
