Education Ministry informed Rajya Sabha that 26% of 18,951 faculty posts in 46 Central Universities are vacant. Minister Sukanta Majumdar revealed 54% of professor, 36.6% of associate professor, and 14.5% of assistant professor posts remain unfilled. According to data, over one-third of the 7,153 reserved faculty positions remain vacant, despite constitutional mandates for adequate representation.
