Researchers have discovered three new snailfish species, Careproctus colliculi, Paraliparis em and Careproctus yanceyi, deep in the Pacific Ocean. Found 3,268 metres below using the submersible Alvin, the soft-bodied fish survive harsh conditions. Two black species, once thought to be life stages of one fish, were found to be different, showing that so much still remains unknown about marine life.
