36 killed, 5.5 lakh affected amid heavy rains in Northeast India

At least 36 people have been killed and over 5.5 lakh affected following floods and landslides due to incessant rainfall across several states in Northeast India, reports stated. Assam, Sikkim, Arunachal Pradesh, and Mizoram are among the worst-hit, with widespread damage to infrastructure and disrupted connectivity. Fifteen rivers were reportedly flowing above danger levels at multiple locations.
