Around 40,000 taxpayers have revised their returns in the last four months, withdrawing bogus claims amounting to ₹1,045 crore, the Finance Ministry said. This follows Income Tax Department's outreach via SMS, emails and physical drives urging people to pay correct tax. The department warned that it will take strict action against continued fraudulent claims.
