As many as seven FIRs have been filed and 40 people have been arrested in connection with violence that broke out in West Bengal's Maheshtala over encroachment of temple land. A Shiva Temple was also reportedly vandalised during a clash between two groups. The TMC government said all necessary steps have been taken to control the situation.
