A survey by 1 Finance Magazine, which studied financial consequences of divorce, found that 42% of Indian men took loans to pay alimony after divorce. The survey examined 1,258 divorced individuals or those undergoing divorce across Tier 1 and Tier 2 cities. According to the survey, 38% of annual income of men, on average, is spent on maintenance payments post-divorce.
