Titanoboa, a 45-foot-long massive snake, was unearthed in Cerrejón mines in 2009. A constrictor predator, it ruled Earth after the dinosaurs. It weighed over a ton and lived in swampy waters, ambushing fish and crocodiles. It coiled around its prey with bone-snapping strength, crushing them before swallowing them whole. Its flexible jaws let it consume creatures larger than itself.
