Sri Lankan Navy arrested as many as 47 Indian fishermen and seized their five trawlers for alleged illegal fishing in Sri Lankan territorial waters. The Navy's operation to arrest fishermen began late last night and lasted until early hours of Thursday. In January 2025, Sri Lankan Navy had even fired at Indian fishermen in Palk Strait, injuring 2 of them.
