A 50-year-old woman from Jharkhand’s Hazaribagh was allegedly taken from her home by a group of seven people, tortured for nearly 24 hours over suspicion that she was a 'daayan' (witch). They shaved her hair, cut her in multiple places to 'extract blood' and screamed incantations, her son said. She was dumped nearly seven kilometres away from her house.
