Eleven Uttar Pradesh natives were detained from Pune’s Somwar Peth for illegally storing 500kg of peacock feathers for sale, the Maharashtra Forest Department said. "These feathers are often used blindly for religious purposes or home decoration...so there are many who are ready to buy them," said Range Forest Officer Manoj Barbole. The accused were booked under the Wildlife Protection Act.
