At least 54 state private universities have been declared defaulters by UGC for not submitting mandatory information. The universities are in Assam, Bihar, Chhattisgarh, Goa, Gujarat, Haryana, Jharkhand, Karnataka, MP, Maharashtra, Manipur, Punjab, Rajasthan, Sikkim, Tripura, Uttar Pradesh, Uttarakhand and West Bengal. UGC said the universities did not comply with directives despite reminders.
