A strong earthquake rattled Peru on June 15, with different monitoring agencies reporting varying magnitudes. The National Seismological Centre of Peru measured the quake at 6.1 on the Richter scale. The epicentre was reported to be about 30 kilometres from Callao. In contrast, the US Geological Survey (USGS) reported a slightly lower magnitude of 5.6.
