An earthquake measuring 6.9 on Richter Scale struck Kyushu region in Japan on Monday, US Geological Survey said. Following the earthquake, the Japan Meteorological Agency issued an advisory for tsunami waves of up to one metre, however, no significant damage or casualties have been reported. The earthquake struck at around 9 pm local time, at a depth of 48.9 km.
