More than 60,000 Lord Ganesh idols, including nearly 29,700 Plaster of Paris (PoP) ones, were immersed in Maharashtra's Mumbai after one-and-a-half days of the Ganesh Chaturthi festival, officials said. To curb water pollution, the Brihanmumbai Municipal Corporation (BMC) has urged people to immerse eco-friendly Ganpati idols in drums or buckets. The festival began on August 27.
