A J&K court denied bail to a man accused of raping a 70-year-old tourist in the hotel where she was staying in April in Pahalgam. Saying that the incident shows society's sick mentality, the court added, "Mere meadows...rivers...won't come to rescue of Kashmir as a desired tourist destination." The accused gagged her before raping her and fleeing from the window.
