After 31 years, eight CPI(M) workers surrendered for the attack on an RSS worker, now Kerala BJP vice-president Sadanadan Master, who lost both legs. The High Court, which upheld their conviction, stated the attack seemed "premeditated". Each accused was asked to pay ₹50,000 in compensation. CPI(M) leaders organised a farewell for the accused before their surrender.
