Eight people have died in Maharashtra as heavy rain lashed several parts of the state over the weekend, News18 reported, citing officials. Most of the deaths were caused by lightning strikes, officials added. India Meteorological Department (IMD) has issued a red alert for Ratnagiri and Raigad districts along the coast, and rescue teams are being deployed across the affected areas.
