Responding to an RTI query, Brihanmumbai Electric Supply and Transport (BEST) informed that 834 BEST bus accidents have occurred in which 88 Mumbaikars have lost their lives in the past five years. Compensation worth ₹42.4 crore was disbursed to victims' families as well as to the injured, the RTI revealed. BEST dismissed 14 employees in accident-related cases, it stated.
