Aashiqui 2 director Mohit Suri said he recorded the songs for the movie in KK's voice first. "But after I recorded that voice, I realised that voice was right for Emraan (Hashmi), a generation earlier," Suri said. "But...I wanted to find a new guy," he added. Eventually, he came across Arijit Singh, who later gave his voice in the movie.
