The Centre has asked all states and UTs to finalise boundaries of villages, towns, districts, tehsils, and other administrative units before December 31, 2025, as they will be frozen on that date for Census 2027. Census Commissioner said from April 1, 2026, the Houselisting Operation, appointment of supervisors and enumerators and the work allocation among them will be done.
