Nearly 1,000 acres of land along the Sutlej river in Ludhiana has been submerged in water after recent flooding in Punjab, according to the Agriculture Department. "We have identified around 443 hectares (around 1,100 acres) in Mangat, Macchiwara and Sidhwan Bet that were flooded and the crop there has been damaged," said chief agricultural officer Gurdeep Singh.
