Researchers at University of Southern California have developed a wireless spinal implant powered by AI to provide personalised relief from chronic pain. The device bends with the spine and is powered by wearable ultrasound transmitter without the need of a battery. It detects pain, uses AI to assess its intensity, adapts treatment and could reduce reliance on medication and surgery.
