Pramila Patil, mother of late crew member Maithili Patil, responded to AAIB's preliminary report on the AI171 crash, saying, "Air India treated my daughter well...I can't believe they'd be negligent." She added, "We're villagers and don't know these things...government will look into it." The report stated both engines of the plane failed after takeoff due to an apparent cockpit error.
