Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) had issued a warning to Air India after spot checks in May revealed that the airline flew three Airbus planes despite it being overdue for mandatory inspections on the "critical emergency equipment" of escape slides, Reuters reported. This shows that the "aircraft were operated with expired or unverified emergency equipment", DGCA had reportedly said.
