On August 15, US President Donald Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin will meet in US' 49th state Alaska, which was once under Russian control. US purchased the territory from the Russian Empire in 1867 for $7.2 million. Alaska, which became a state in 1959, has been the location of the only World War II battle on North American soil.
