Allahabad High Court overturned the conviction of Abbas Ansari, Mau MLA and gangster-turned-politician Mukhtar Ansari's son, in a 2022 hate speech case. A court awarded him a two-year jail term on May 31, 2025, leading to his disqualification from the Uttar Pradesh Assembly. The HC restored his membership, saying his disqualification was an injustice to the people who elected him.
