ECI claimed that allegations that Muslims were disproportionately excluded from the final voter list of Bihar after Special Intensive Revision (SIR) were "communal". Responding to the petitions that alleged that 34% of the 3.66 lakh electors finally deleted were Muslims, ECI said, "This is based on some software for name recognition, whose authenticity, accuracy...cannot be commented upon."
