Amelia Earhart left an indelible mark on aviation history, accomplishing various records, such as becoming the second person (first American) to fly solo and nonstop across the Atlantic. She took her first solo flight in 1921 and acquired her own aircraft, a Kinner Airster, in 1922. She was the first female vice president of the National Aeronautic Association.
