Mumtaz spoke about her only film with Amitabh Bachchan, 'Bandhe Haath', and opined that they originated from contrasting worlds. "I had to drop out of school in fourth grade...I was 7...we used to get Rs 500 for a role...[meanwhile] Amitabh ji was highly educated and classy...had a bungalow and nice life...I don't understand why he needed to [act]," she said.
